Eating, drinking wine, playing soccer, and playing video games. Life is great.

So I now have been in Spain for about 3 days in total. I don't know if I have ever eaten this much food before! I was lucky enough to be here for a Spanish holiday, El Dia Reyes Magos, which is pretty similar to our Christmas. The kids open their presents, and people get together with their family and eat and drink wine, champagne, and more wine. Saying no is basically not an option, and Spanish wine is DELICIOUS. For food, I think I have eaten almost 10 types of fish by now, my favorite being a fish soup that had calamari, muscles, and shrimp in it. I also ate donkey! Its kind of like salami. It is VERY fatty and probably terrible for you, but amazing. The whole extended family is very nice and took me in like I was part of the family. This holiday made me realize what people mean when they say Americans eat fast. We ate for almost 3 hours! Small courses... but they just kept coming! I love to eat so it was basically heaven for me. The whole day was just a lot of fun.

Since then, I have just been hanging out with the family. I have played videogames, and even pick up soccer with them. Im definitely not in the kind of playing shape I was 5 years ago when I played soccer in high school!

The kids go back to school tomorrow, which means I also start my classes! Im pretty excited to do this. I looked through their english books today, and its bascially the same as my spanish books have been, just in english.

So yeah, thats what I have been up to. Eating, drinking wine, playing soccer, and playing video games. Life is great.

Im here until March as well! I have found a lot of Spanish schools that charge on a per week basis. There is Cervantes, EleMadrid, and LinguaMadrid that were recommended to me by a native of Madrid that sat next to me on the plane. However, they seem to be a little out of my budget for now. Also, there are a few intercambios in downtown Madrid during the week. There is one next Thursday the 19th if youre interested. Im in La Urbanization de Florida area. Its about a 20 minute bus and metro ride into the Plaza del Sol. My lessons are usually from 530-8pm, so I have all day free. If you like, my e-mail is kedyer13@gmail.com or my Facebook is Kelly Elizabeth. Let me know if you want to meet up for a cafe con leche, almuerzo, or a museo!

Hey, Great post! I arrived in Madrid today and hope to keep a blog about it as well. Its awesome that you were here for such a huge holiday-but Im not so sure about eating donkey! What classes(what school) are you taking? I was looking into a Spanish language school as well but couldn't quite decide. I hope you have a great time here, and maybe we can meet up one day!
