Ok, so you just can’t make this kind of stuff up.

I started out my morning leaving at 8 for the train to Tiburtina.  Unfortunately, the train station had a fire and I could not get to Tiburtina.  Caterina and Enrico drove me to Termini station.  At Termini station, I found out that my train to Bologna had been cancelled but I could take a train to Verona and get off in Bologna with a two hour delay.  I boarded the train at 11:30.  This trip would now take approximately 3 hours.  About an hour into the trip, our train broke on the tracks.  We sat on the tracks for 1.5 hours.  It then took another 3 hours to get to Bologna http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bologna. ; From Bologna, I was going to take another 1 hour train to Rovigo where Chiara was waiting but she told me to just call here when I was one hour from Bologna and she would travel to get me.  Thank God!

As soon as I saw Chiara at the train station, it was like old times in Ireland.  She looks wonderful!  We decided to have a two-hour walk around Bologna and stop for a glass of wine.  I certainly needed it at this point.  We left Bologna and drove to Rovigo, where I would be staying for the next 3 days.  Chiara’s parents and sister were all waiting anxiously for my arrival, as was Chiara’s dog, Max.  Max is no average dog.  He acts like a human.  Chiara prepared bruschetta and a coffee flavored cake for dessert.  We finally settled in and dreams of Venice danced in my head.
